Made for each other?

Did you ever get the feeling.., that the two of you were just made for each other? I don't mean if you ever "thought" you were made for each other.., but you "knew" and came to realize.., "damn.., we were absolutely made for each other"..

It really is an amazing feeling.., and tonight.., I was walking down the isle at CVS.., when all of a sudden.., we met.., me.., with my stuffy nose.., 103 degree fever.., body aches.., muscle craps.., joint pains.., coughing.., soar throat.., congestion.., and a serious headache.., and there it was.., Advil.., Cold & Sinus..

At first I thought.., orange? This can't be serious medicine.., but then I got to know it better.., read what this baby could do.., it's almost like we were made for each other.., everything I needed.., it had to offer me.., 200mg at a time.., in a sweet candy-coated shell..

Anyone else with a similar experience?

No.., it's still me..

Just the weight off my shoulders now that all papers and finals are done with.., and a combination of taking a break from writing.., and recovering from being a little under the weather..

First and foremost there's the natural element. The ocean, the sun. Tides, wind, sand. You spend hours and hours in storms, sun, gale force winds - it gets you out in the ocean when otherwise the only place you'd want to be is at home in front of the heater. You learn to read weathermaps, to judge how such and such wind is going to affect a south easterly swell at this break or that break. How the tides are going to affect it. What the sand banks are doing. You accumulate a wonderful store of specialised knowledge.

Apart from that it builds your strength and the confidence you get from becoming accomplished at an incrediblly difficult discipline. In big conditions it forces you to confront your physical fears - something there isn't much scope for in the 9-5 office grind.

Most of my mates surf as well so there's a strong social element. We go together before work, after work, on the weekends. We go on trips up the coast. Camping trips.

It keeps you fit and rips up your back and your torso. And also, because the act of surfing is so difficult it forces you to focus so completely on what you're doing that, on some days, it pushes you into a meditative state. You can get so totally absorbed in what you're doing at that exact moment that everything else melts away.

And it's just so damn fun.

Probably the one thing I feel I'm made for is the beach...I'm not one of those people to go out there and tan and hangout with friends there. But, it's one of those places that always makes me happy. I can sit there for hours, walk, run, bike, skateboard...by the end of the day I'm always happy.
