    This summer's painting projects

So I bought about 30 oz of paint, and it finally came in the mail. I also bought a few new brushes, and now I am finally ready to put some of my old ideas on a beautiful 2 piece canvas set - 24 x 48 inches.

One of my ideas focuses on the idea of controversy... and then the newborn unity surrounded by it. One thing I am really focusing on is racism. Living in the midwest for 5 years has given me an opportunity to see the racism between Native Americans and White people. I am a (mostly) white person that has been given the opportunity to view the perspective of modern day Native American lives. It's ****ing depressing. The other 14 years of my life, I lived primarily in a poor downtown area of a fairly large northeastern city, where I was salt in the pepperbarrel, so to speak. I lived in the south for a while, too, but not enough for any new perspectives. Anyway, given the perspectives of the minorities' lives, and how racism is a daily conflict in their lives, I would like to paint something which focuses on any such controversies. This ties back to a sketch I drew last summer, where a knight was playing a cello. I have drawn a few sketches since then, incorporating my ideas with the old sketch. At first, I was just going to draw it in either charcoal or chalk pastel, on a big piece of paper, but since I have more ability with paint, I've decided that I am going to paint it. I would like to post it on here when I am finished. I hope that it is something that people would be interested in seeing.

Another one of my ideas is not so deep... but is rather based on a dream I had, where I was in a city under the sea. Every now and then I have a hard time remembering how it looked, since I had this dream such a long time ago! The other day we had a sunburst, and I was driving on my way home from work. I could not help but to stare at the beautiful view on the side of the road. The sky seemed so low, it looked like the clouds were floating atop a watery atmosphere. And then I imagined what it would be like if the grass were a yellowish green seaweed, slowly reaching for the sun. Just beautiful. And then I remember hearing somewhere that where this place was, used to be an ocean. So now I can paint this surrealistic view, and it would be kind of historical, too. That beautiful view has finally given me the inspiration and ideas I needed to paint the dream onto a canvas. I hope this also sounds interesting for you to see.

Then I would like to do a series which focuses on German activism - which is something that the youth of the country really needs. It needs a nice healthy dose of it, so I have come to find after speaking with many people from there. So I have decided to do some influential calligraphy, in older, forgotten German writing scripts, that I have studied in the past year. I am going to take the things I write, and paint them onto the foreground of a canvas. The background could be something that brings pride and whatever to the viewers... I haven't thought too much about this series yet, it is one of my newer ideas... and I have yet to get the calligraphy pens. But maybe this is something that you would also be interested in seeing.

Anyway, if you are an artist and you have any ideas and/or tips for me, I am all ears for it. Don't be afraid to tell me something I already know.

This thread is mainly for the showcasing of my summer work And also to see how interesting my ideas are.
