The issue does have blame on both sides. Georgia shouldn't have invaded South Osettia by bombing down villages, civilians and Russian troops inside the territory and Russia shouldn't have over reacted the way it did simply repeating what Georgians did on a larger scale. It's not a one sided issue.
Unfortunately having given support for independence in Kosovo signaling that separatist regions have right to vote themselves out of countries, there's no moral high ground the western countries can take on this.
Not to say that present Russian administration is not corrupted and rotten to the core.
Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame
God or the Devil
