I can see it spinning either way, I have full control over which way I see it spinning. The easiest time to notice is when the outward leg is 'pointing' at you. Also, look at the hands.

What you have to apply to this is that there is no 3rd dimension and therefore it is not spinning either way, it is just going back and forth. It's an illusion on the screen. If you know this, you can control which one you see.

edit: but if it matters, it looked as though it were spinning clockwise first.

Learn to change it when looking at it. Just notice the little details about it. Analyze something like the hands, and you will realize that it is not spinning either way.
