    anybody watch the news?

    I am so glad we don't have this channel, but every now and then, I see stuff on youtube that makes me cringe! Fair and Balance.. a complete JOKE! They're all republican, and it is a propaganda network for republicans..

    My beef with that channel is specifically with three shows.

    1) Bill O'Reilly, The O'Reilly Factor
    2) Sean Hannity, Hannity and Colmes
    3) The entire Fox and Friends cast

    Two other news personalities that make me 'cringe' are MSNBC's Pat Buchanan, and CNN's Lou Dobbs. Both are so obviously racist, it is unbelievable!

    In no particular order... here are some of these clowns in action...

    Lou Dobbs
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Y0W19-N3Ik"]YouTube - Lou Dobbs: Cotton... What?[/ame]

    Pat Buchanan
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVeFyV0iLrk"]YouTube - Pat Buchanan's Racial Paranoia Meltdown on MSNBC[/ame]

    Discussing Buchanan (the entire clip is worth watching, but if you don't want to watch it all, start at 4:20)
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPdLi2n5Hm0&NR=1"]YouTube - Tavis Smiley: Pat Buchanan is a racial arsonist[/ame]

    The fools at Fox
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiIK8jh3ZCE"]YouTube - Chris Wallace takes Fox & Friends to task over Obama[/ame]

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwWGS73v4_k"]YouTube - Doocy: Alaska is Next to Russia[/ame]

    okay, so i'm tired of looking at these videos, so this one sums up fox nicely...
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouKJixL--ms"]YouTube - FOX ATTACKS OBAMA[/ame]

    okay, i couldn't resist..
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xScZN2-Z_Sg&feature=related"]YouTube - Fox smears again.[/ame]
    LOL

    okay, rant over...it is hard to filter news, but i think everybody should see through the b.s. and form their own opinions, and not let these clowns do it for you.

    I watch mostly CNN and MSNBC. My main criticisms of those two channels is that they don't report on more world news. Sometimes I watch the BBC News for that reason.

    I don't watch the telly because aussie news dont interest me much, and so far BBC's website is the best site ever. No bullshit and no skewed viewpoints, it remains objective and distinguishes opinions to its sources rather than providing its own.

    its interesting but BBC news website must be the same as the channels, BBC1 allows no advertising whatsoever, so i reckon allowing advertising can sometimes skew the main interest of a channel.

    RSK - this is off-topic, but your thread reminded me to tell you I think you should be an orthopedic surgeon specializing in knees. I saw a partial replacement at work yesterday - it was the coolest thing I ever saw. Plus, you'd get lots of business!

    hey there shh, that sounds really interesting! i was thinking about going into geriatrics (i'm sure i spelt that wrong!?), and i'm sure in that field, if i specialize in orthopedics, i could get a lot of interesting cases (and business) dealing with fixing joints and stuff! but i'm not sure anymore, i've become more research oriented, and i'm really getting interested in preventative medicine. i really would like to specialize, but something is drawing me to family medicine.

    how are things going with nursing? i just watched a little segment on cnn the other day, the future of nursing is looking bright as ever, my friend is really interested in it, and is probably going to apply soon.

    I'm in my last semester. I look forward to being finished. Have you ever seen "House"? The way that doctor speaks to the med students? That's the way (some of) the clinical instructors talk to (some of) the students, and at this point, there really aren't any dummies left in the program, so it's not because of incompetence or stupidity. A number of students even cry. It's tough to witness sometimes, but I've managed to avoid anyone's wrath so far.

    Tell your friend it's a lot like boot camp, and you just have to suck it up and get through it. Once you are done, you will have more power over the way people speak to you.

    How's medical school?

    I know what we can do - you open a clinic, and I'll work for you. I like geriatric patients, too. Especially the males, even the cranky ones.

    hey hey...sounds like a plan! speaking of cranky old men, i was at subway the other day, and this old guy walks in, and chews up the kid working at subway! he was telling him how he should shave, and join the army and stuff... man, he had a go at the poor guy. i felt sorry for the kid.

    i've never seen that show house, but a lot of my classmates are hooked to it. i've only been hooked to lost, but even then, i don't get much time to watch. things are going well, i'll be taking my boards very soon, have been studying all summer so it boils down to some final weeks of preparation!!!

    I doubt it, the ads usually just have their content showed if they pay handsomely, what usually affects the TV programs is those who pick who's talking, what they're going to say and what news that they will bring up. And every so often in order to attract viewers it becomes a bullshit channel with attempts at "sensational" news to draw a crowd.

    And lobbyists giving the top men a nudge works as well.

    I usually get my news from Yahoo news because Yahoo is my homepage, but they get their news from the Associated Press and Reuters and whoever
