Don't want to be a creeper

Alright, I met this girl that I knew from a long time ago over the internet accidentally.We talked for a bit through messaging and exchanged numbers. I gave her mine first and then she responded later with hers. I don't necessarily have feelings for this girl but I figured we were friends before so what the heck. Now, I'd like to text her and stuff just to start talking again but I don't want to seem like a creeper or anything. So pretending that you girls are the girl I'm talking about, would you be freaked out or annoyed by some texts from a guy you haven't seen in years? The back of my mind says she only gave her number to me because she doesn't want to come off as rude. I mean, we weren't great friends but she remembers me after almost ten years. I wish I had more confidence sometimes.

I don't plan to ask her out or anything, but I just want to start some conversation to see what happens.

I remember everyone, even the creeps, so don't take that as a sign of encouragement, but the fact that she gave you her number should be.
