School Exam, so close to pass :(

I got a 74%, and needed a 75% like mentioned below, and they won't give me that 1/2 or 1 mark that I need, because they don't allow mercy marks, and stating that the computer is 99% accurate, what is wrong with giving someone an extra mark to carry them over?
I'll still have to do lots more phases and courses, so I'll still have to pay for those.
Another thing, I'll have to pay for the books again, when all I need is the course, which is about $390, when it should only cost me about $150-$200 max.

OREA General Rules :
http://www.orea.com/index.cfm/ci_id/229/la_id/1.htm#rules

* An examination represents 100% of a final mark.
* A final mark of 75% (minimum) must be achieved to successfully complete each course.
* Students are granted two opportunities to write an examination. An examination attempt will be counted where a student writes an examination or fails to attend on a scheduled examination date. If a failing grade is received on the second attempt or a student fails to attend a scheduled second examination attempt, the entire course must be repeated.
* All examinations are based on a time limit of 3 hours.
* Dates may be cancelled and/or Examination Centres may be closed without notice due to unforeseen circumstances. This will not count as a missed examination opportunity.
* The examination booklet must remain intact. The staple must not be removed from the examination.
* Completed examinations are the sole property of the College.

P.S. Within the 4 weeks I'll be having an Exam review to see what happened that made a difference.

Why do you have to buy the books again? Can't you just tell them you already have the books?
Don't expect anything.

I did ask, but they still need to ship the books.
All I need to pay is the exam, since the books are fairly new.

Life is harsh, what can you do? School systems are greedy, and don't have exemptions.

1% off on rewrite and still fail him, that's greedy on their part.
It's just 1/2 mark that I'm missing, it's not like I don't know the material enough to move on, maybe I misunderstood a few questions, but a 74% shouldn't be considered a fail in my opinion.

It's tough but that's what it takes to have solid academic standards. I know it sucks so much for you but if your college is at all decent they will not budge under any circumstances. Better luck next time, man.

1%?!?! those assholes. Sorry to hear that. Though school, while important to an extant as it is education shouldn't be someone's life. Relax and be glad you don't have to repeat it many times.

I'm trying to change from what I was doing before, so it was important to pass.
I wasn't liking General Machining, so I decided to try another route, and almost passed
the 1st phase, but knowing my luck, hell breaks over, and I'm screwed once again.

At the moment, I need to get some education since I'm limited with what I have and really want to put an effort into it.

P.S. I want to finally succeed and not keep failing at everything that I try.

At least over here if someone is graded just below the limit to pass they go back to see if they've been attending most of the workshop sessions - if yes they get a nudge and pass, if no they fail.

Also, I would bet they already *gave* you 'mercy marks' to try to get you as close as possible & you just didn't make it.

If you think you deserve more, however, I would have your prof remark the exam. It can happen that an overzealous grad student was too harsh. Most of the time tho, you will get an even lower mark for the reason I said.

Try again. Think of this time as practice. Lots of smart ppl fail at some point. Its usually a wake up call that they need to pull their socks up.

I got 70% before and now 74% for rewrite, it just sucks that I was so close, but didn't manage it.
I'm going to have an exam review with a teacher, to see where my mistakes were.

P.S. Another thing that bothers me is the price of $390 that I'll have to pay when I already have the books and don't need to spend that much more time to study, only needing about 1-2 weeks max with how much I've looked over it.

What's the class, K? Mbe someone here can give some suggestions. Do you know where your problem areas are? If not, don't expect to do any better the next time.

A lot of students poor mark is due to poor study technique. They often focus on the wrong material.
