Nissan Motor Corporate Bully

    http://www.digest.com/index.php

Apparently this guy had owned the domain names since before Nissan Motor Corp was known as Nissan (but rather "Datsun). They've been trying to muscle this guy out of this business name and URL's for years.

    That's bullshit.

Frasbee, this is a perfect example of where large corporations can stuff it. With the crap this company is trying to pull I'll be sure to spread word of what they're trying to do and boycott them.

In another example of Nissan Motor's flexing its corporate might, age old eminent domain laws have been rewritten in Mississippi allowing the State to take land and homes from local landowners for the sole private benefit of Nissan Motor. How the State of Mississippi was "convinced" to change these laws is unclear, but it is clear that local individuals are being deprived of their property rights so Nissan Motor can build its own plant.

Is he a cybersquatter, tho? Or does he have a *legitimate* business? Cybersquatting is illegal. There are lots of young comp ppl who tried to make money by grabbing established company's dot.com names simply to try to extort $$$ from them.

The guy had the domain name before Nissan was Nissan. He had it back when Nissan was Datsun.

Hmm. Well, I suspect he is cybersquatting and, for the right price, he would give up his dot.com.

But I went to the website, and if what he said is true, then Nissan Motors is probably simply foobar on this one. He had the right to register, and he got it first. And not obviously provable he only did it b/c he wanted Nissan to pay him. Too bad for Nissan Motors. If they want the url, they need to cough it up.

I think it would be different if they could prove that he was willing to sell the domain name, publicly. But I doubt he's that stupid.

If you were surprised by the story, you're very oblivious.
