I posted this in another forum a couple of weeks ago and didn't really get any answer to my question and I thought I might get a better response here. If anybody can offer any thoughts, it would be appreciated. Here is my original post:
There is somebody I work with who I see just as a friend but I am wondering whether he is interested in me (inspite of me being married). If he is then I need to back off or say something but if he is not interested I don't want to say or do anything that causes embarrassment or could risk the friendship. So I guess I just would like some opinions on whether he likes me more than just as a friend.
He and I get on really well. I think their is mutual respect for each others work. We just clicked and got on with each other as soon as we started working together. We also talk about colleagues in a way that definitely implies that we trust each other to keep our conversations confidential. He is my best friend at work and I would say that he feels the same.
We can have a laugh about things which is fine. He does like to tease me (in a nice, funny way, not nasty). Sometimes I feel as if he is just trying to catch my eye and hold eye contact (though I do wonder that maybe because I am concerned he likes me, I am seeing something that is not there). When talking to him the other day, I was commenting on how cold it was in his office and how cold my hands were. To demonstrate, I just put the back of my hand lightly against his - he did not pull his hand away. He pressed his hand firmly against mine. I have also caught him eyeing me up and down from time to time.
Do you think he is interested in me or am I just becoming over sensitive because I think he might be? Any thoughts would be helpful as I don't want to lose a friend but I don't want to lead him on either.
