Amnesia!!! PLEASE HELP

Sorry for the bad gramma but i'm stressed

Ok i live in australia and currently my GF (or was) is spending time with her family in america. All well and good no problems. Things have been going strong for about 6 months now. Shes been over there for about 2 months or so.. Well anyway 2-3 days ago she got into a car crash on the way home from a night out. Her side took the full inpact and she got a broken leg, injured neck and a large nock to the head. Her firend who was driving got hospitalized beacuse she hit her head with my GF. Well problem is now. She dosnt know she had ever been dating me. Shes staying with her dad who seems to think everything is fine and well dosnt even know about me nor do most of her family there expect her cousin. Who told me in tears that she can't rember anything going on between me and her and she has no idea about her starting school or even about her cousins wedding.. Other than that everything is all fine.

So for the last month her and i have been planing to meet up and i was gonna spend 3 months over in the USA while shes there too then come back together. Well now theres only 11 days left untill i leave and to be honest i don't know what to do. She showed one or 2 signs of knowing me but then later forgot she did that. I feel like i'v been dumped but worse. Now i have no where to go while i'm in america as i was gonna stay at her uncels house who i don't even know. So dose anybody know anything at all about this sorta problem. This girl means so much to me and now she dosnt even concider me anything more than someone she talks to from time to time in passing. Her cousin want me to stay away from her while i'm there so i don't know what to do now. PLEASE HELP

Will things come back to her? it's killing me.

Something about this story isn't right. If she broke her neck 2 or 3 days ago, she'd be in the hospital, probably paralyzed.

No she didn't snap her neck.. just wip lash or something minor. It would be really helpful if someone had some really usefull info.. beaucse if things don't get better i don't think i'll have the heart to even go near her.

I don't know this girl, but have you considered the possibility that she is faking it? Amnesia can be caused by traumatic brain injury, but I would be shocked if she were discharged from a hospital in 2 or 3 days if that was what happened.

She never really went to hospital. Her friend did but i don't understand why when she had littel to know problems. Slight concusion at most. However they just did a check up on her when she was lifted from the car and put a cast on her leg and thats it. Acording to her brother who was there with her. She was unreponsive for a while untill they manged to free her from the car. But yes she did suffer a very large hit to the head. I dunno maybe she is faking it how ever i have no plans to see her if she dosnt know me. It's just heartbreaking.....thow her cousin was really upset and was very histerical on the phone and wouldn't stop crying. She even sent me photos of the cars damage. I just don't know what to belive.

Yeah the story dose sound mad in a way. How ever the stange part was when it first happend she told her brother to contact me ASAP then things started falling apart. Then when i got a messsage from her.. it as all strange and said "what have you been through?".... so i it could be either truth or fiction.. and sadly either way is still awful.

Please research amnesia and basic hospital procedure... then try this story again... be sure to add plenty of time between occurrences for believability.

On the incredibly ridiculous chance this isn't all fictional... she doesn't remember you... thus there is no relationship anymore... move on.

My ex had amnesia from an injury. He could not remember the event or things that happened a few hours before the event. It was very scary for him. I’m not sure whether he was hospitalized or for how long. Surprisingly, there is not much a hospital can do for you. However, with her injuries she should have been in the hospital. There are different type of amnesia but it’s usually the short term memory that is lost (ha, I get that when I am awaken from sleep do something for a few seconds and then go back to sleep). Long term memory is usually not affected but people with traumatic history may have repressed memory but that is more psychological than physiological. I understand that amnesia can be a benefit and is like a coping mechanism for traumatic events. I remember a professor telling me that many women in child birth develop amnesia at a certain stage but I cannot recall (no pun intended) what stage. He did say that if women remember every moment of child birth they would probably seek sterilization after the first one LOL. I digress. Anyway, it sounds like you have been played. Have you physically meet her often? Maybe she never thought of you as anything serious and wants to get rid of you. There may be a small chance she is not faking it but I doubt it. If it’s real there is a good chance get her long term memory will return in a few days; however, she will NEVER regain short term memory lost. Call her and ask her what happened right before the car crashed. Don’t guide her in her answers. If she can recall up to the crash and she is claiming amnesia I would call BS on that!

Thank lesa that was very usefull info. Well she dosnt rember the crash or a few moments before hand. How ever she dose not know about any of the time before that. or the 6 days leading up to that event? Dose anbody know how long somthing has to be before it's counted as long term memory. She dosnt rember the last time she said "i love you" and dosnt belive she ever did. And that was about 10 days ago on the phone. but once again lesa that was very usefull thank you

I just wanna add that i'm the one calling it amnesia not her.. i just don't know of any other word to discribe it.

Ok so today i spoke with her again and she just seemed like this blank person who had no idea of ANY of the talks we ever had or how to even take me as a person as far as joking around and such. She was treating me like she only knew me for a few days. Like i asked her about her fossel colection and got this "oh that ones in the heart shaped box?, yeah my step dad got me those when he went to texas"... telling me stuff i knew. Shit she was even eating meat when i was talking with her and she WAS a semi vego only eating chicken sometimes
