    Do you believe in soulmates

Do you believe that there's one person out there for you? Do you believe in true love?
let me put it this way. YOU - grapes.... ME - oranges

Not a female, but I'll jump into this one ...

    1) The "One"

Utter nonsense. It's patently illogical to think there is someone out there made just for you. I can understand that when you find someone with whom you both share attraction and compatibility it seems as if you were made for each other but in truth, all you have really found is the somewhat rare excellent match.

    2) True Love

Yes, this one I believe in. True love (as opposed to infatuation or dependence) is a combination of four essential factors:

    - Attraction
    - Compatibility
    - Cooperation (compromise)
    - Commitment

I also think "true love" requires a conscious choice to put the relationship above the individuals because you both realize that you are better together than either of you would be apart.

    Carl.

I agree with Carl. I believe in true love, but the notion of one person out there destined to be with me seems like complete nonsense. I've loved a lot of people......sometimes they've felt like a 'soulmate'.....but how would I know if they were or not?

I think we're capable of loving more than one person deeply in our lives, and are compatible with many people. I consider it fortunate if you happen to end up with one of the people that is compatible with you. The odds seem pretty low, considering how even small, seemingly petty differences can be enough to make you wrong for a person.

    Soulmates? No.

True love? I believe "true" love happens when you love, respect, and are attracted to that person deeply for who they are, not for how they make you feel about yourself, and they feel the same way in return.

True love is that of a mother for her child. All the rest is conditional.
