    i HAVE to eat

    Hi,

i have this reasonably under control, but i'm just wondering if anyone has any views on it.

Well i'm a 17 year old male, and i find that whenever i don't eat enough i get in very bad moods, i always seem to be really tired and grumpy, but then i have really bad mood swings, because i might be in a great mood before and then a second later not be able to bring myself to smile. I eat a reasonable breakfast, lunch and supper, and have a 4th meal at about 3 in the afternoon. Yet i still have to eat mid morning, 11 ish to get extra energy.
oh and i tend to comfort eat quite a bit when i get in really bad moods, and no ammount helps but i just carry on.

i don't know if it's really a problem, but are there anyways that i might be able to last without needing to eat?

    thanks

Maybe you should re-evaluate the foods you are eating.

Or, you could go to the Dr. and get your blood sugar level checked.
"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad."

I'm betting Vash will call hypoglycemia. Anyway, in my experience it seems a lot of teenagers have this, you are growing like a weed right now. But check with your doc if you think its excessive. Do you get dizzy w/o food, or anything else unusual?

I don't eat once a day like Doppel... at least not everyday... but I have noticed that if I do not eat at least twice a day I will have dizzy spells...

Also noticed.. that the sensation of hunger never really goes away. Even when I'm 'full'... I'm still hungry. I've just learned to ignore being hungry and just stick to a schedule.. more or less.

If it turns out there's nothing really wrong (like hypoglycemia) then you may have to learn to just ignore the sensation of hunger until it becomes much stronger.

If you are a lazy, inactive kid, and you still have an enormous appetite, you might want to get your thyroid function checked out, and yes, a doctor might want to check out your blood glucose levels, liver function, and pancreatic function. I think that true (pathologic) hypoglycemia is pretty rare (except in diabetics taking medications) because the liver releases sugar into the blood when levels are low.

Are you a physically active boy? I am guessing you are, and all your symptoms can be attributed simply to a fast metabolism. You might try eating foods that take longer to digest like protein and complex carbohydrates.

If you are worried, of course, and your symptoms seem genuinely unusual, see your doctor.

being that you're a 17 year old male, you still have a high metabolism. however, you might want to change your habits because eventually you will get fat.

i'm the same way when i don't exercise enough. i get grumpy.

you eat because it stimulates the pleasure part of your brain like drugs do. instead of sex, you crave food..haha you weirdo.
