This has been troubling me for quite some time.

Which is the best solution to this problem:

You are in love/have a huge crush on your best friend. Yet the only feelings returned by your best friend is that you two are best friends. Do you stop being friends because the pain of seeing them with someone else is too much or do you live in misery because you don't want to lose that friendship because its better then not having them in your life anymore.

I think the general consensus here would be move on and don't torture yourself.

You can find new friends (ones you aren't romantically interested in).

If you're stuck on wanting to keep the friendship then take some time apart and try to get over your feelings for your friend.

If you can't.. then it's probably in your best interest to just let it go completely.

While you may think it's better to have them in your life as a friend if you can't have them as something more-- realistically it's only going to make you feel bad/potentially make you feel bitter.. it could also keep you from giving someone who does have feelings for you a chance.
