    Anyone know what this is?

Some friends I know went camping and saw this weird red thing growing from the ground. They didn't touch it but they said it was really really weird lol.

Here is a picture of it. Let me know if any of you got any idea what it is.

Yeh they said it was rooted to the ground like it was growing. Doesn't look like any plant I've ever seen. They were camping in the forest when they came across it a few miles from their site.

They say it was real odd because it was just alone and it seemed real out of place.

That my friend is a Xenomorph egg. The Xenomorphs are known to leave behind these eggs in random secluded areas to mature on their own. Once it reaches a point of maturity it opens up to release an offspring like so:

There had been some observed interactions between Xenomorph facehuggers and humans which usually end like this

    Don't cry, don't regret and don't blame
Weak find the whip, willing find freedom
Towards the sun, carry your name
In warm hands you are given
Ask the wind for the way
Uncertainty's gone, your path will unravel
Accept all as it is and do not blame

Tell them that I'm sorry for skydiving with licorice in my pockets and I'll never do it again.

    Definitely some kind of plantlife.

Why don't you send the pictures to the faculty of science, department of botany at your local university, together with the location?

The people who went camping sent it to the pictures to a university already. I'm just curious to see if anyone knows before they hear back from them haha.

    I'm with Mish.

Submit the pic and they will be able to tell you what it is... for free.

If I had to guess.. I'd say it was some sort of bromeliad.

It looks like the knob you'd find on the end of a bed, only painted red.

I'm guessing it's a pine tree sprout though.
"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad."

I believe all these alternatives are just desensitising us from what can be a potentially credible alien threat.
