How long should you wait for someone to get over a past love?

Just a general question. Let's say you were really close with someone who was going through struggles with their boyfriend and then she and the bf break up..What would be an appropriate waiting time before you make your move?
Be careful with your heart, because when someone seems too good to be true, they usually are.

the problem with this question is that everyone is different and has different emotional levels. so there is no concrete answer

It's hard to tell and it depends from person to person.

In general the longer the relation was, the longer it takes to get over it. Some people say it takes about half of the time you were together to get fully over someone.

Usualy the first 3 to 5 weeks appear to be the hardest.

It also depends a lot on how the person acts after the relation is over.

People who keep on living in the past need in general more time to get over a relation.

At least that's how I understand it.

I think it depends on how long you were together and how they treat you after the breakup. We were together for 9 months, although we both kinda liked eachother for 5 years (half of that was puppy love). The first 6 weeks were the hardest for me, but since after the breakup he treated me like shit i got over him fast due to a guy who knows how to treat a lady (not rebound, dw).
