Darrell Held My Hand In Public For The First Time Yesterday!

My boyfriend finally made his first public display of affection for me yesterday! It was sooo sweet! He is usually against public displays of affection but apparently he has gotten over that now. I am just so happy! For someone who doesn't like public displays of affection, do you think this was a big step for our relationship?

    I do, yes.
My boyfriend is yet to show any affection to me in public. He hasn't held my hand yet. I don't know if he has problems with it but it kinda upsets me that he doesn't.

Holding hands is practically not a PDA. Kissing, grabbing ass or that stuff is PDA

I don't think it was such a big deal...Well it depends on Your age. If You're very young then yes... it is a big step

Not really big steps, but I guess he's on the way there I remember when my bf held my hand in public. I felt quite awkward but elated as well, so I know how you felt. Don't worry, if he's comfortable enough with you he'll do more than holding hands in public.
To reminisce won't bring you back, just look ahead and hold on tight.

If you think it's a big step, it's a big step. Things like this are subjective.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured. I think is a big step for him. He does not like public displays of affection at all so it kind of surprised me when he did this.

Just wait til he starts wanting sex in public places

If you know it was a big step than that was a good thing.

Baby steps & hopefully pretty soon he will want to hug, kiss in public as well.

I 100% disagree. For anyone who doesn't like PDA, holding hands IS PDA and when it does happen it IS a big deal. Age has nothing to do with it.

Who are you to say that holding hands isn't a big deal? If it is, it is! I don't particularly care if you did at 12 I didn't and when I did it was a big deal.

Don't get me wrong but it's just funny to me that You (or anyone else) do such a big deal of holding hands. It's like it would be akward to hold Your mum's or friend's arm.
Yeah but it's true, it's as akward as You feel it. It's the same situation with talking to foreigners, taking public speeches. It's all about insecurity Because people don't even notice that some couple hold hands. It's just Your mind that says that everybody is looking weird at You Gee.

PS. And don't 'Who are me' . Come on, we're friends

Perhaps you should have IMO'd your post. Just sounded like you were poking fun at someone/ something that someone considers a big deal.

My point is still: If it's a big deal to a person it's a big deal. No one here including myself should tell her that it's "funny" or that it isn't a big deal.

Well now I don't want to never have a laugh with you again, I just wanted to let her the OP know that she's not the only one to think that it is a big deal and that he did overcome a hurdle.

    Apology accepted.
