Is it better to have the talk, or to ignore his texts until he goes away?

I'd like some honest opinions. I've been on three dates with this guy and there's just no chemistry. He's nice and all around wonderful and I don't want to hurt his feelings. My friends say I should just ignore his texts and calls but that's what I do to guys I don't like at all. That seems too harsh in this case. Should I talk to him and let him know that I think he's great but the chemistry just isn't there?

I don't know which would be best.

    You already know the answer.

Tell him, or he'll end up at LF posting a "what happened" thread, shortly followed by a "all women are bi+ches!" thread.

I think you should just tell him you think hes a great guy but would just like to be friends. If he asks why just be truthful and tell him theres no chemistry. It'll upset him more if you just start ignoring him, trust me ive been in the situation a few times!

Be honest with him let him know what you told us here.

I don't get why people can't be honest these days about pretty much ANYTHING!!

I agreed with everyone above me. Just be honest and tell him how you feel.

Ignoring guys that ask you out is a shitty thing to do, no matter how little you like them.

Be decent, take the two minutes to tell them you're not interested.

Just for the record, telling him the truth is what I WANT to do. I agree, it's the decent thing. 3 of my guy friends, however, have told me that they would prefer a girl to just let it go without "the talk".

Just taking a pulse on your opinions.

if you tell him there is no chemistry it's pretty clear cut. If you start ignoring him he might think you're playing hard to get or a million other things. Be clear in your intentions, not what you think he will perceive your actions as.

Telling him you're not feeling any chemistry isn't really an insult. So he's probably not going to feel too bad about it. Just go ahead and tell him.

I don't think ignoring him forever is the best way to go.
I think have a talk to him, tell him how you feel about whats going on and maybe why its going on? Because by telling him this, you won't feel bad about letting him down so harshly from just ignoring him, and it should help him because he can point out when he did wrong and improve for later.
