Met a new girl... What would you want?

I spent two weeks at a school convention working in a group with a girl from another city. It was alot of fun working with her, and she acted pretty intrigued by me for the whole two weeks. During the last week I finally asked her if I could get her e-mail if that wasn't weird... she didn't hesitate, kind of stuttered and blushed and wrote it down, saying she checks it everyday.

I'd love to go out with her sometime... I just don't know how to approach her in the e-mail/ I don't want to seem like a loser or creep? I rather be upfront about it, but I don't even know if she's dating someone? By the sounds of it, she not, as she has a roommate and other hints I got.

If you were her... what would you like to hear from me in an e-mail? And when should I send it.

What you got to lose? Ask her, from the sound of it she seems to like you. Just first ask her to hang out as friends and maybe that will lead to a kiss and there you go.

But how? In the e-mail or should I ask her over the phone. Specific wording would be best. We live pretty far away (hours), but I travel to her city often.
