Going from friends to being a couple?

Okay My friend of 3 yrs asked me out a month ago. I said no, because I never saw him that way. Over the last few weeks my feelings have changed, and we have spent some time together. The most that has happened is a cuddle whilst watching TV, but it felt very very weird. I really like his personality - he is a lovely bloke but there is something really really bugging me and making me feel awkward about the situation. I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Any advice/experiences of such a situation and what you did about it gratefully received.

Every step forward is a step you can't take back, Sarah, so be sure you actually like him before you proceed any further. You could hurt the guy, and that's not kind.

I think you should be open and honest with him and tell him exactly how you are feeling. That it doesn't feel right and to take it further - that you see him as more a brother rather than a lover and because I'm thinking that is why you may feel uncomfortable.

Basic psychology, he is in the friend zone. You will never see him as anything more UNLESS time goes by where you you have no contact with other men (or meet anyone new). That is the only way you may convince yourself he is dateable, but this situation is rare, as most women spend time with other guys as well. Your best bet would be to tell him you like him as a friend for now, but maybe one day things may work out, but not to wait for it or press it. By saying this, you do not entirely crush him, and you are not lying either, you never know how you will feel 5 years from now.
