Real Complicated relationship roadblock

Ok I meet this girl at country fest (I will call her nikk)i, I facebook her. We talk for like an hour on facebook last night. She is totally into me. And then come to find out her roomate/best friend (I will call her cat) is someone I talked to, TALKED to not dated, about a year ago. So today Cat posts on facebook
" Do guys not realize that when they try to date me and then try to talk to my roommate/bestfriend...I'm going to find out!! Men suck!! I'm going to become a nun!"
Nikki then comments
"yup guys are idiots...but the nuns would not accept you courtney!sorry! LOL

Did I just get spearheaded or what? I like nikki a lot. I didn't date cat like she said I did. And really wasn't into her at all. I feel like Cat is in Nikki's ear saying all kinds of bad things about me. And I never did anything wrong to Cat. She just wasn't my type. Can I still get with Nikki?

It probably depends on how much the new girl believes her friend. I don't think I would be interested in dating someone who was after one of my friends.

That said, I wouldn't listen to Cat, just based on her name alone.

Cat isn't her real name I just used it because her name starts with a C. Nikki is an amazing girl, she is a straight A nursing student. And she already has a job working at a hospital and she is soo down to earth. She seems like the perfect girl for me. They are roomates. How should I go about this now. I am still going to talk to Nikki. I just think that Cat tainted what me and Nikki could have had. Thanks for the advice.

Nursing students are usually pretty smart. If Cat is prone to exaggerating, I am sure Nikki knows it, so yeah - talk to her.
