    I will start with Chinese poem by Li Bai:

    You ask me why I dwell in the green mountain;

    I smile and make no reply for my heart is free of care.

    As the peach-blossom flows down stream and is gone into the unknown,

    I have a world apart that is not among men.

    I mainly know polish poems and there is plenty of them that I would like to share with you ,if I find translations into english I will do that for sure This is one of my favourite (and very famous in Poland) :

    by Adam Mickiewicz

    Uncertainty

    When I don’t see you, I don’t sigh, I don’t cry,
    I don’t loose my head, when I look at you,
    However if I don’t see you for a long time,
    I am missing something, someone I must see,
    And longing, I’m asking myself a question:
    Is it friendship? Or is it love?

    When I loose your sight, I can’t even once,
    Recreate your image in my mind,
    However, despite my will I feel sometimes,
    That it is always close to my thought,
    And again I pose myself a question:
    Is it friendship? Or is it love?

    I suffered much, and I didn’t think at all
    To go to you and express my sorrow;
    Going without a purpose, not minding the road,
    I will come to your doorstep without knowing how.
    Entering, I ask myself a question:
    What led me here? Friendship or love?

    For your health, I would give my life
    For your peace, I would descend to hell,
    Though I lack the courageous will in my heart,
    to be for you health and peace.
    And again I pose myself a question:
    Is it friendship? Or is it love?

    When you lay your hand in my palms
    I’m surrounded by calm,
    It feels like this light dream could end my life
    But a lively heartbeat keeps me awake;
    Which loudly asks a question:
    Is it friendship? So it is love?

    Composing this song for you,
    The spirit of the Poets didn’t inspire me;
    Filled with surprise, I didn’t perceive myself,
    Where did I get the thoughts from, how did I come across the rimes;
    And I have finally written down this question:
    What inspired me? Friendship or love?

    great poem PP. great questions raised as well. is it ever possible to distinguish between friendship and love. is it mainly comfort that we feel when we are next to that person.

    And this is another one I really adore. We quote the first sentence for people who died. This poem is so true.

    By Jan Twardowski

    Let us hurry

    Let us love people now they leave us so fast
    the shoes remain empty and the phone rings on
    what's unimportant drags on like a cow
    the meaningful sudden takes us by surprise
    the silence that follows so normal it's hideous
    like chastity born most simply from despair
    when we think of someone who's been taken from us.

    Don't be sure you have time for there's no assurance
    as all good fortune security deadens the senses
    it comes simultaneously like pathos and humor
    like two passions not as strong as one
    they leave fast grow silent like a thrush in July
    like a sound somewhat clumsy or a polite bow
    to truly see they close their eyes
    though to be born is more of risk than to die
    we love still too little and always too late.

    Don't write of it too often but write once and for all
    and you'll become like ddelphine both gentle and strong.

    Let us love people now they leave us so fast
    and the ones who don't leave won't always return
    and you never know while speaking of love
    if the first one is last or the last one first.

    I'm studying Russian in my free time. I've been able to read Cyrillic for at least 5 years now lol. My goal is that by the end of college, I'm able to read church Slavonic and study Russian lit from the middle ages.

    PP you should learn to read Cyrillic. It really isn't hard at all and it will help you with your international pursuits

    edit: oh, it would be off topic if I didn't post a poem or a song. So here is nothing.

    (Here was video but PP deleted it to prove Dopp that she has magic powers)

    I also know a lot of good "poetry" on yt... This is not what this thread is about... search at least for lyrics ... How should we understand what they are singing about. Not everybody is so "talented" to understand whatever which language they speak. Look for translation like I and Sonrisa did or I delete this video.
