The UFO acronym does not mention the word 'alien' or 'intelligent life'. Anything that is flying, but can not be identified is technically a UFO. If I see something in the sky tomorrow, but I can not hear it or identify as any obvious flying vehicle, then I have seen a UFO. Blame it on the media and society for automatically linking the term UFO with aliens. If the flying object is later identified, then the UFO becomes a IFO.
TL;DR - UFO ≠ Alien
