I want to marry my g/f but times are hard.

Things were going pretty well down South, but we both quit our jobs and took a chance moving up North.

Funny thing is, I feel better about us now than I did when we were more financially stable.

This November will be our 4th "anniversary" as a couple.

I'm still at a loss about an engagement ring, I just can't imagine spending so much money on such a frivolous object. I know she's not big on jewelry, but she's still a girl and I know she'd appreciate the traditional aspect of it. I know we both have grown tired of being b/f, g/f. It sounds so juvenile for the likes of our relationship. Made worse by the fact her family doesn't comprehend a relationship to be serious until there's a wedding ring.

    What a bitch.

I know lots of people that got the 'times are hard' rings when they got married, and then upgraded later when they weren't.

Your gf doesn't sound like a shallow person that would throw a hissy if you didn't whip out a giant rock. It's not about that anyways. I also think your relationship becomes more telling when you go through a tough time, like financial hardship together. You know she can work through it, she knows that you can too. The money aspect hasn't turned you into evil little people and pulled your relationship apart. That says that you are right for each other.

Well, I hope it all works out well Fras, you two are good for each so I think it will be okay which ever way it ends up happening. I remember a time not so long ago when you were uncomfortable with even the idea of marriage, you've come pretty far.

You could just propose to her, I'm sure she understands that your situation is not good at the moment. If it goes about wedding, why not go somewhere for "holidays" and get married? Just you two .You would save the money for organizing a wedding and you could get married wherever you would want to. My bf's cousin got married like this. He and his wife didn't tell anyone about it and went on holidays on Madagaskar or something and so they could afford everything and of course it was pretty romantic. Of course they planned it for some time .

Guess it differs from place to place, but most of my relatives traditionally just get simple gold wedding bands, nothing too fancy. **** the rocks.

yeah, a lot of women I know don't wear the engagement ring after a few years - they just opt for the band because the diamond gets stuck on things.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Now you just reminded me of some old movie where a woman dies when her wedding ring gets caught in a filter at the bottom of a pool.

It's good to see you stuck with Amy Fras. I'm glad you didn't ditch her to chase skirt.

I think you've always been a good couple. I think you should give it a little more time, though. There's no rush, just do it when the time is right.

why do you want to marry her? what are your intentions? just to have a binding contract and wedding band, or are you planning on having kids?

I think they are a nice couple... Because Fras is happy in this relationship , you don't see him whine about her,if they have problems, they don't have them because of each other ,but they have those problems together and they try to face them together ...And yeah , it's also a nice thing to say
