In the Netherlands we have the word: "troostrelatie". It means something like: comfort relationship.

It's when you've just been dumped and you begin a new relationship to get over your exboy/friend.

Do the English also have such a word?

Ya everyone is right rebound is the right term. The other poster are right that you must not hold too much value in this relationship because it might be temporary. You may end up being used to get over the break up and have it not be a real relationship you were hoping for. So enjoy it while it lasts.
