    What does he want?

Ok, so before Christmas I got with a long-term best friend. We'd been really good friends for about two years. (He's 25 by the way, I'm 18) We'd go out together to the local pub, he would bring me to work, school, everything really. I found it quite weird when we began kissing each other and that but slowly it become normal. At the start of this 'being more than friends' business it wasn't plain sailing, due to the age gap and the fact i used to go with his best friend. We talked about it a bit but then one day the both of us just seemed to forget everything and decided we were going make a go of it. So, things were great, we'd text everyday, see each other at least once a week, we exchanged Christmas gifts(expensive) but I noticed he was quite hesitant about letting people know. I understood this completely and suggested he told his friend, whom I used to be with, first before he found out from someone else. He said he would but I knew he wasn't going to. I just let it be anyway. So now, lately he has become so distant, rarely see him, text every now and then. At first I decided I would just leave it be and see how things go on. Did so for 2 weeks then just couldn't handle it anymore and needed to know were I stood. I text him (wanted to do it face-to-face but he dislocated his shoulder and cant drive for 6 weeks so I wouldn't see him till after that) and asked him just to be honest with me about how he felt, blah blah blah.. he replied saying, ''sorry for having me in this way, yes, your right i have backed off lately because things were getting too serious and i don't want a relationship, but i hope we can get back close again''. I text him back saying thanks for being honest and that i understand completely and yes that's fine. He doesn't reply and I haven't heard from him since, its been 2 days. My head is absolutely fried! All inputs welcome. please help. btw we've never had sex.. we have had foreplay though.

You're way too young for a 25 year old. I'm sorry but he was embarassed to be with someone so young and therefore you were his "dirty little secret". I suggest you give him some time and space and reconcile in a few weeks. Don't talk to much about what happned, it's over and done with.

I'm sure you're a nice girl but it was the age thing I'm almost positive.

Tbh it was the age thing that put me off ever wanting to be more than friends. But my family knew about him as did my best friends and they were cool wit it.. he was cool with it too, well i assumed. When we were just friends we did things publically like and everyone actually thought we were getting it on. then we did an he did kiss me in public but then all of a sudden everything changed! :/

Well now you know I guess he liked you enough to try but it wasn't happening he can't get over that you're so much younger, and it's not that that many years is terrible I'm marrying a guy 7 years older but we're also older and in roughly the same "life stage" and that makes the world of a difference.

Either way time is what you both need. Give it some and chat again after time has lapsed. I'll say it again, don't talk to much about the relationship.
