First you need to learn that girls aren't that different from guys. Some want to wait till marriage, others want to **** 5 times a day from the day you meet.
She likely has given you plenty of hints that she wants sex and eventually got fed up with a non-sexual relationship.
Girls want passion, too. Being a "gentleman" doesn't always work.

You can give it a shot by telling her you don't mind a more sexual relationship but thought she didn't want to. However, there is likely more going on and the sex, while part of it, is the easiest excuse she could find for breaking up with you.
