    I'm just curious -

I've known women that think males that can cook (and love doing it) are hot, and some think they are a bit nanny-nanny. Just checking out the general consensus here -

For the record - yes I'm asking because I absolutely LOVE cooking!

I'm a guy and love cooking big time - not just heating up stuff but cooking from basic ingredients. I've made pate, home made pizza, bread - the works. And women love that I can cook - in fact I have never met a woman who can cook as well as me - and it really impresses them. If you want to impress a woman invite her over and make her a fantastic meal - it never fails

I am also a guy that loves to cook. My gf practically hasn't cooked in years! I think its certainly a box to tick on my Relationship CV, but it can go too far the other way sometimes. It wouldn't occur to my gf to cook for us now. If I don't cook, we each make our own meals in the microwave. Sometimes she seems taken aback if I ask her to make me a cup of tea!

I would *love* to have role reversal in my house. I'd love to be the breadwinner, and him be the "homemaker" if it could be that way. It's not but I would most certainly enjoy it.

I would not think he's a pansy or pussy whipped or whatever, that's just one more thing that's so awesome about him.

I'm not sure I'd want to be a homemaker though, I'd much rather work on my normal career and keep cooking as a hobby (or eventually own my own restaurant).

I'd make it clear as day though that food shall not be a priority in the relationship. It's great you love it but what you describe takes a lot of time. In all honestly I wouldn't be willing to give up that much time with my lover so he can gruel in the kitchen as opposed to spending time with me. It's great if the lady wants to help out or join you but for me that'd wouldn't work I hate cooking.

Well cooking takes time anyways, no matter who does it. Really though, most dishes don't take all that long if you're efficient. For example, last night I made seared Ahi tuna, grilled talapia, wood-fired shrimp (grilled over apple wood) and grilled asparagus and it took all of 10 minutes, which is after getting my grill started but I use a high quality charcoal grill with a gas igniter which means I just dump the charcoal in, rake it in the center and press a button and 10 minutes later I'm ready, so total time is less than 30 minutes. Most week nights I just cook quick meals, like tonight I'm making Thai style beef satays with peanut sauce and steamed veggies - another meal in less than a half hour. Really, I can make a good home-cooked dinner in about the time it takes to make hamburger helper, or whatever.

Fair enough, I'm just explaining my POV.

Making noodles from scratch though was more at what I was getting at.

Seems to me like you're cynical.

If I were to go fishing it certainly wouldn't be on an online forum.

You just remind me of another poster here that regularly likes to flaunt how awesome he is.

Puts a bad taste in my mouth.

Oh was I flaunting? I'm not saying how awesome I am by saying that I love to cook, or that I believe I CAN cook. I'm genuinely curious as to what others think about males that cook because I have a good female friend that loves to give me crap for it.

There I edited a post where I talked about all the things I like cooking, sorry I just get a little excited when I talk about things I'm fairly passionate about. Taste better?

If I am married to him then his ability to cook would be a plus. Other than that, it isn't exactly something that will win him points if he brags about it. It is not like:

Guy: "I know how to cook, you know?"

Girl: "Wow, really?! I totally want to jump into your pants right now!"
