Cousin checked my messages

Few days back my cousin without my permission checked my cell and saw few nonveg messages from my boyfriend. Now her family thinks that I have sexual relationship with my boyfriend which I actually has bt don't want any body to know.
So to cover up all this mess I said that those messages are from that boy's gf to him and that my cell was with her so those messages were in my phone memory. Now I jst want the suggestion that what shd I do whthr go to them at tell this whole stry face to face or cut of all the contacts from them. Please I want some serious suggestion in which way they will believe me.

I'm 24 and he is 30. We have been dating from past 10 months but we never let other people know because he is Muslim and my parents just hate muslim people so I just wanted to keep it a secret until we both make our mind for wedding.
