Only two of the 45 people on board the passenger plane carrying members of the Kontinental Hockey League team Lokomotiv survived after the Yak-42 aircraft slammed into the banks of the Volga River after taking off from an airport in Yaroslav, 150 miles northeast of Moscow.

"Russia has a poor aviation safety record. Medvedev has promised to take Soviet-era planes out of service from next year. The Yak-42 has been in service since 1980."

I mean seriously, why would they even consider flying on a russian plane?

this is not a death subject but old people should not be driving:

Reese Witherspoon suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car while out jogging Wednesday, police and a spokeswoman said.

The 35-year-old was struck by a vehicle driven by an 84-year-old local woman while running in the seafront district of Santa Monica west of Los Angeles, a police spokesman said.

Witherspoon was on an unmarked crosswalk at the time, and the driver — who was travelling at 32 kmh — was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian, said the spokesman.

Two elderly women were out driving in a large car-both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red but they just went on through. The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself "I must be losing it, I could have sworn we just went through a red light."

After a few more minutes they came to another intersection and the light was red again and again they went right though. This time the woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it. She was getting nervous and decided to pay very close attention to the road and the next intersection to see what was going on.

At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red and they went right through and she turned to the other woman and said, "Mildred! Did you know we just ran through three red lights in a row! You could have killed us!"

Mildred turned to her and said, "Oh, am I driving?"

    very very sad:

"Andy Whitfield, star of the Starz Entertainment sword-and-sandal series "Spartacus," died in Australia on Sunday at the age of 39.

The muscled actor succumbed to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of blood cancer with which he was diagnosed in March 2010"
