How to sustain a conversation

Hi everyone,

I just want to know how I can sustain a conversation with the opposite sex. I went out on a blind date with a guy. He is attractive and a gentlemen. But the problem is we can't have a proper sustained conversation face to face. He mentioned a lot of things regarding music, television shows, events, sport games that I have never heard of. We just don't share the same taste in a lot of things. What can we do to find common ground? I really don't want to let this guy go without trying to get some conversational chemistry. We have physical chemistry but I worry that once the sexual things are all done, there will be nothing else to sustain us. Help?
