Talking with a girl who doesn't have self-confidence

Right now I'm in the middle of chatting with this girl I met on OKCUPID. Now she doesn't have a lot of self-confidence and it comes off in her messages. On her profile she had written that she has had bad experience dating men and being treated horribly

I think she is very attractive and we really have common interest it seems.

How can I get her to open up a bit more? Just by talking to her and keep asking questions?

Tell her you liked her picture and mention something specific about it like " I love that picture of you, your eyes look really warm and beautiful". Also I think once she sees your not a jerk or a type of person whos really concerned with looks or just vain she will come around. She's probably testing the waters. If you open up about something in your life, ask about hers after. Like if youre saying how your family use to go camping, ask what her family use to do/childhood memories. I hope that helps.

1. Give her a compliment once a day. Don't over do it.
2. Be nice to her, even if she says something unusual, or has unusual hobbies.
3. Listen to her talk, which makes her feel like she is important.
4. Encourage her to share personal things, like personal tragedies, personal wins, secret desires. But don't make it a habit. If she starts making it a habit, try to say something like "I don't mind hearing your troubles sometimes, but can we talk about something different now?"
