I think most intelligent people realize its the economy, oldskool. Losing your job these days doesn't have the same stigma it did 10 years ago. Many, many talented, qualified people are having a hard time finding a job. Its a rough market right now. I know of 2 myself who have been out of work for 3 months. One chemist I know took almost a year to find a job. Those that have one are hunkered down b/c they know they could be next. No such as 'job security' these days except for a very few professions (even their time is coming). I wouldn't be worried that someone thinks badly of you.
Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.
