Do you mean friends with benefits? Or an open relationship as in a couple open to sex with others?

Personally I am not interested in casual sex. I've had it, and compared to sex that you have when you're in love with someone.. well there is no comparison! Sex is much better when you're with someone you love, and I'd never have casual sex again.

An open relationship with a couple I can't comprehend so I can't comment on it. I could never be OK with that.

Man, if my bf said he wanted an open relationship I'd tell him he was free to screw anyone he wanted - except me.

The only mature way to use power, is to use it to serve those that are powerless.

    open relationships!!! ahhh..

it shouldn't even be called a relationship at all.
how do you introduce someone you're in an open relationship with anyways?

"hi, this is bruce, he's my partner in an open relationship."

or "this is my friend bruce. we're not dating, just having sex."

or "this is bruce." and let people make any assumption that they want.

But really, how do you enter into an open relationship?

Do you date, then decide mutually that it's okay for you to be seeing other people?

Do you hang out, then all of sudden, you're having casual sex and decide that it's an open relationship?

And really, how do you introduce the person?

Well...I just pretend that such things do not exist as open relationships. Thinking about how someone can be this retarded makes my head hurt. Why not just call it quits if your going to sleep with other people?

that's why every relationship should define it's own rules. There are levels of openness and I think what we're calling "open relationship" here is nothing more than one of the extremes of openness. The other extreme is: "in our relationship, not only can we not have sex or date other people, but you cannot dance/be friends with/ make any eye contact with the opposite sex". Extreme.

Maybe snowboarders like these extreme relationships too....

In any case..that's a good point about why call it a relationship at all. We're caught up in definitions. How are civil unions different form marriage?

    I digress.
