I was reading a magazine today, and an article caught my eye. I was wondering if you all could put your input on a few questions about your dating life. Stories to go along with your answers would be nice.

1. Has anyone ever tried to sabotage your relationship?
2. Have you ever dated someone of a different race?
3. (If so, was it an issue with friends and family?)

Now for my answers...

1. I have never had someone tried to sabotage a relationship of mine, exactly, but I have had a few people really discourage a relationship for certain reasons.

4. Yes, and am still dating a her. I'm an Athiest, she's a Christian.
5. Not with my family, but with a few of our mutual friends, and her family... a lot her family.
6. I think it's because people are just afraid of what they don't understand.

3. (If so, was it an issue with friends and family?) For my g'ma. But she's psycho...and highly racist. She even told my mom when i was born that she didn't want to hold me because i was a tainted space in her family blood line. (i'm half mexican)
4. Have you ever dated someone of a different religion? Of course...religion is not even a big deal to me. I could care less about someone's religion. As long as they dont indulge me in conversation about God...i'm completely ok with it.
5. (If so, was it an issue with friends and family?) No. Err, i went out with a guy that was practicing wiccan for a few months while we dated. That was a bit awkward for my mother for awhile. But she got over it....when we broke up.
6. Why do you think it's so hard for some people to accept mixed relationships? Because they cling to an idea that is to them, socially acceptable..and they're not taught or shown any different..when it's shoved in their face..they have nothing to do but deny it.

*Yes, at Uni. I dated an exchange student*

*Friends were cool with it. Family gave me grief about it. It was such a contentious issue.....they were so relieved when he went back to his own country*

*Yes*

*Not an issue. But I wound up fighting with him...so it didn't work out*

*Major factors are: Fear of the unknown; stereotypes; mass hysterical bigotry*
