Guy online wants to meet for the first time in Las Vegas for New Years Eve. Should I?

I met what seems to be a pretty cool, stable, attractive guy I met online back in the early summer. We have been chatting and talking on messenger for almost 3 mos. We recently started talking on the phone around last week. However, my concerns is he is not a big talker (I love to talk inquire and ask questions) I mean he talks but takes things slow when asking questions. I talk more than he does. I am concerned because he does not call a lot or email much. He emails every once in while to see how I am doing. Our first conversation on the phone I was so excited and nervous at the same time because we had never spoken. I got off the phone and I was pleased with his mannerisms. We did not get a lot covered in the phone conversation because it was very general and I appeared to do most of the talking (that is just me). So he calls rarely but claims that we will have an opporutnity to really ask each other questions and talk more eventually. Well,how long does eventually take. He sits at home and just sends stupid emails all the time and has my phone number. I don't get it. So when I asked him he said he is not a big internet person or phone person. Well how in the heck are you supposed to get to know someone long distance if you do not call each other a lot. Isn't that the only way to get to know somebody to be comfortable enough in meeting them. He makes no rational sense to me in that aspect. Anyway, he asked me to go out with New years eve and that we meet in a neutral safe place with a lot of people in Las Vegas for New Years Eve. i was happy to get that invitation. He said he will pay for meals and hotel and all I have to do is purchase my ticket. So why doesn't he call more before we meet so we can get to know each other better like he said we would. It is really getting to annoy me with his lack calling and not asking me enough about myself.. I am looking forward and sort of excited but unsure if I should go. Do you think it is wise when they guy rarely picks up the phone I think that is weird? What should I do? We have seen each other numerous pictures of each other so we can get an idea of how we look and I am pleased and he is pleased with mine. Just unsure of the trip. He is very attractive as I am, he is from my native town, grew up here and went to college here. He lives in Los Angeles now and I live in Ohio. However we are not meeting in each others state but a seperate place all together he calls "neutral ground". What is your advice is this guy from what you have read ok? Also I went out last nite and told I was going out. Do you think he was wondering who I was going out with? Or too early to give that any thought. Please give me answers from mature people no silly nonsense and think through carefully before giving me advice because I want sincerity. Thanks. Keep in mind this was not a sleezy dating site. Just a nice on line match maker thing. He isn't married, lives alone, divorced after 2 years, has children and has partial custody of them.
