what is it with girls and money?

why are some of them so incapable of curbing spending and being responsible??

it was a huge breaking point in my relationship with my ex...she was always months behind on her car payments...cell bills....etc.....when she did have money it burned a hole in her pocket...buying junk or clothes to make herself feel good.....the day we broke up she didnt even have a dollar to her name....bad credit and no savings/checking account......after 2.5 years of having no real bills other than car insurance, cell, and small misc.

after that disaster i started to envy my friends who have hardworking girlfriends that are able to contribute financially to the relationship(split rent/groceries)......one of my best friends has a gf who is a school teacher...makes good money...t.hen she bartends in the summer and makes excellent money.....come to find out she is often late with the rent and has been through bankruptcy and still struggles managing money.....when i heard this i was a bit suprised

then one of my other good friends just recently broke up with his gf of 8.5 years....they seemed to do well....share an apartment together...he has a good job...she does as well...come to find out when they split she was 3 months late on her car payments....that too suprised me....both of these girls really seem like they have it together...

i used to work in an office with mostly women....they were hardworking and most of them had husbands or boyfriends....and i always envied how they were willing to go to work to contribute to their relationship...i imagined them being very smart with their money and helping out....

Nothing is with girls and money.

Just because one (or more) girl you know has an issue with keeping her finances straight, doesn't mean that *all* girls do.

i was insinuating that all girls do.....i just thought i was with a special case....and it seemed most others were fairly good/normal with it...then i come to find out not everything is what it seems....im sure, like anything, there are some good, bad, and in between......just kind of shocking that some girls, fairly close to home, that i thought were stable arent so much

its not a gender issue. some people - men and women are bad with money.

plus if someone is struggling financially-it doesnt necessarily mean they are bad with money.

me and my bf both work 6 days aweek, we share responsibility of rent, bills, food etc. i have my own car to pay for, health insurance, try to save a bit each month, he has a car, spends a fortune on petrol coz he drives a fair distance to work. we dont have any debt but the last few months i needed to dip into my overdraft and its getting harder as bills go up and wages goes down. im very responsibile with money but still finding it tough. cant remember the last time i bought anything nice for myself and i badly need new clothes.

you shouldnt judge. some people assume we have plenty of money coz were both working and have a nice house but most people are just getting by in this recession.

you try to save so you can get the clothes you need or get your hair done and then you realize its someones bday next week or you have to go to a wedding next month or your tax on your car is due or you owe a bit more than you expected on the gas bill or you need to go to the doctor, bring the dog to the vet, etc etc etc

my bf used to b bad with money. hes much better since we moved in together. he never had any debt or anything but never saved a penny when he could. i managed to save enough to go to college in a year. the reason im good with money though is coz i worked since i was 13 and neever depended on my parents for money so it thought me to budget from a young age. they wernt mean or anything-i never went without anything but i just always had my own money so didnt ask them for much.

i can think of a few women though that are awful with money lol. men are prob thought to be more responsibility especially if their dad was the main provider while they were growing up

Yeah, OP, the same can be said about guys and money. What is it with guys and money? I've known plenty who can live paycheck to paycheck and never think about it.
