    The Great Facial Hair Debate

Across the board, most girls seem to like the look of guys with at least some facial hair
At the same time, a lot seem to have issues with how it feels, specifically when it comes to kissing.

I think I definitely look better with facial hair. I'm thinning up top, and hairy from the neck down, so I feel like it's best to embrace the older look. I think a clean shaven face conflicts with the rest of me, plus there's the benefits of more defined facial features/jawline etc.

At the same time, kissing has been (and hopefully still is) one of my strongpoints. I've gotten away with it, with the mustache/goatee I typically have, but I think I've had the most positive response in my clean shaven days.

I've heard that the irritation issue is typically when facial hair is stubbly, but goes away when it grows a little longer. But even if that resolves the issue by getting rid of a negative, I still get the feeling that good kissing requires a clean shaven face.

So yeah... I guess my question (aimed at the girls mainly) is: Can any of you say you have experienced good kissing from someone with facial hair? Other general thoughts on the whole facial hair thing?

While I'm not a woman, I can certainly answer this because I experienced facial hair kisses and non-facial hair kisses with men.

With me, though, it was only a problem if the hair was bushy (more than short stubble) because then the hair on the top of the lip starts poking me. This slight discomfort with the mustache only gets increased if it is in heavy kissing, as it later feels like my skin was scrubbed with a wire brush and, hence, rash-like. But with some of the men who did not have facial hair, sometimes it felt like there was something missing to their face when we would kiss. However, that could just be my preference over generally hairy guys over smooth guys. I like both smooth and scruffy guys, but I'd probably say I like scruffy guys a little more. It's something about the roughness of them which I find a tiny bit more pleasing.

With my boyfriend, Dave, he has the shorter stubble you're talking about. He keeps it nicely trimmed so it doesn't go any higher than the base of his cheeks, leaving his neck covered in it until it comes to engulf his chin and wrap around the mouth (not sure of the proper terminology, as facial hair terminology was never my strong suit, so if you're confused, I have pictures of him on my profile). Though it's short, it's not short enough to be sandpaper. Instead, it's soft like fur (I think because he either washes it with shampoo or soap, but either way, it's nice. Maybe a possibility for you is looking up how to keep it soft.) which makes kissing ideal for me. I admit I'll even just run my fingers through it randomly while we're cuddling to feel its texture.

    That's just my experience, though.

Facial hair doesn't make kisses less enjoyable, imo.

I like facial hair, and don't feel it negatively effects kissing OR oral.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

OP: It really depends on the female. I've had some like it, and some hate it, and some that were ambivalent. Besides the female, It's also dependent on the kind of whiskers you have - mine are very coarse and scratchy, definitely not for every woman.

My beard brows very fast, so I play with it a lot; shave it off, grow it back differently, reshape it etc., and I have to trim it a LOT to keep it a reasonable length. If you'd like a beard that may be acceptable to a wider range of females, I suggest you pick a beard style that isn't run-of-the-mill... pick something unusual. Personally I've been sporting "Friendly Muttonchops" for a few years now (with variations) and get a lot of positive reactions.

Lol. I actually can't grow much of a beard. I can only do the mustache/chin scruff. Everything else is just individual strands which, despite there being a lot of them, still somehow fail to form a coherent mass even after two weeks.

In any case, I'm clean shaven now but that's because I'm doing job interviews (another realm in which the facial hair debate continues).

Usually if you're with someone you can just go back and forth and they'll eventually let you know their preference. I was concerned for a first-impression scenario, but like I said outside circumstances have already made that decision for me

I look at stubble and I think, YES. And then I kiss anything with a beard and I think, OH GOD WHY MY FACE IS ON FIRE.
