I do, unless they are a minor. Parents are responsible for the acts of their children.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

That article should provie you with enought info to counter most studies that say other wise. If you read shooitng that get tied into video games almost 80% of the time the person that is doing the killing come from an unstabled home as well as have problems dealing with everyday social situations. These people playing video games just makes them worse and pushes them more to commit such acts.

But if you get a parent monitored what games their kid plays and talk to them about the game and maybe even limit the time they play video games. Plus it has shown playing video games improves eye cordination as well as though processes in the brain. Heck now they are putting video games in gyms as a way to get people to exercise.

gah! the video-games-in-gym idea is mine.. I had it years ago damnit... online armwrestling, etc.. that'd be cool.

but anyway.. blaming 'the dumbass who did it' is accurate of course, but it's also too simple- yes the crime is the criminals doing. But what _caused_ them to behave in that way is what really matters if you want to prevent it from happening. must be a whole cocktail of different factors. I can't help but think that all the violence and death portrayed almost glamourously (007's "licence to kill", etc) in movies, tv and games is just one factor.

    It is a factor.

But there are much larger factors at play than what can be found in books, movies, videogames.

(yes Derm, i've seen bank deliveries- The military has firearms. and yes, if somebody really wanted to get a hold of an illegal firearm, they could manage somehow.. I wouldn't call that 'readily available' though, not like in the states.)
I guess you are right in that respect. BUT if a person is crazy enough to want to shoot/kill someone here, they will find a firearm somewhere. Maybe we can control our tempers better or have less of an impulse/short fuse. I don't know.

I really think it's the people. not the availability of guns or the lack of it that's the problem.

Remember that guy who shot the knacker in Galway. He just 'lost it' after being subjected to numerous burglaries on an ongoing basis.
Many questions answered.... Many answers questioned

Yeah, but everyone "loses it" every now and then. If the guns aren't readily available, then the consequences of losing it aren't so severe.

I won't be so sure of that. You still got home made bombs, fire/buring people, running people over with a car, etc. So take away guns and people will find something else to use to kill others, sad but true.

If you've lost that much, then your access to guns isn't much gonna matter.

okay, i know i'm late to respond to this but it needs to be said. SARCASM. i was being sarcastic, of course it's not that bad.

also i don't buy into that 'under 18' crap. it's not like someone who's 17 or even 16 turns 18 and becomes completely competant. people are responsible for their actions as soon as they understand the concept of death and know how induce it. doesn't matter if they're 10 or 30, if you know what you're doing then you're responsible. end of story.

I will concede the car bit, but come on! Home made bombs? That requires planning. People won't be impulsively blowing up people with home made bombs, but they WILL be shooting impulsively.

Would you stop? That just makes an excessive amount of sense.

I can't help it. It is the estrogen coursing through my body that makes me so sensible.
