personally i use the mach3 to shave my face. i think you can just buy the refills separately. i also believe that they came out with a mach turbo...

Yeah. The turbo is just the same cartridge with a larger/longer lasting lube strip by the blades. I bought the turbo champion (the red mach 3) and the lube strip was gone in 1 or 2 shots, yet the blades were still sharp as hell so I'm still using the original cartridge. In the future I'll probably just get regular mach 3 cartridges, but we'll see.

Also I just realized something. I was thinking more about what Frasbee said in relation to the BIC statement above. For a while I was feeling guilty about spending the extra money on shaving stuff since I'm a college student who works long hours to pay for whatever I gotta buy. I was thinking, meh, maybe I should save a few bucks and deal with the longer time it'd take to shave and use the cheaper option here. But I just realized I spend the same amount (give or take a few bucks) on replacement cartridges for the mach I use as I would if I were getting my routine haircut back before I started shaving my head.

Now I don't feel so guilty. Rawr.

here's another angle... f*ck it, just buy a buzzer and shave your head every week. it's simple and it will cost you an average of 15 bucks for the kit. it's a one time deal.

I thought about that, but I like the bald feeling. I like the feeling of the stubble at the end of the day, but nonetheless I prefer the bald feeling. I could buzz it everyday, sure, but I have pretty thick hair. Barbers used to complain about my hair clogging up their clippers. I'm sure it'd be a little cheaper to use the electric route, but in my experience (I've tried many electric shavers already) my skin seems to tolerate blades a lot easier than the electric ones. No idea why... it's not what I expected.

My theory is, I could always spend more on the fusion, but I'm not, so I'm not at the "worst case scenario" or else I'd probably reconsider my choices. But nonetheless, I spend more in two day's time on ridiculous sports drinks from gas stations on my way to/from school than I would in a month's supply of razors. LOL.

Pretty sure I did. Funny thing is I'll probably be letting my hair grow out pretty soon again anyway. Gotta go job hunting for the real deal in a couple weeks. Maybe I'll get the shaved sides/short semi spiked top look going again.

I got sunburn the other day bro... makes me want to cry.

Be careful about burning your head. I've done that before. I still swear to this day that shaving my head for so long coupled with exposing my scalp to the harshest elements the NE has to provide has caused me to prematurely develop a receding hair line.

just as a curiousity today, i bought a mach 3. i haven't used it yet. i usually don't take the time to shave finely with a razor. hopefully the fine suave of the razor will make the girl at work smack my ass again.

i will let you know if it's any good if you're still wondering.

The mach 3 was a damn nice razor. But, I have thick head hair, and shaving everyday kills a cartridge in about a week. A cartridge for the mach 3 is about 2.50 per. Do the math, one a week, 52 weeks in a year, etc etc... More than I'd prefer.

I actually switched to disposables. Now I use a BIC comfort 3... which is basically a disposable version of the mach 3 with a plastic handle instead of the heavier metal handle.

There's also a BIC comfort 3 advance, which has a heavier handle, however I don't really need such a thing. I just need decent blades and a cheap price, which I found with the BIC's.

Where the hell did you find 4 mach 3 cartridges for 4 dollars... they're 9.99 everywhere I go here.

might be the taxes where you live.

i just shaved with it. wasn't my closest shave. i was a little bit nervous to go against the grain where i needed because of the 3 blades. i haven't shaved with a razor for about a year, i guess it takes a little practice to get used to it again.

my brother has a razor with 5 blades on it. one of these days it's going to slip and he is going to cut his face off! all he has is peach fuzz and whiskers, no sense in him shaving anyway.

taxes? The price of the 4 cartridges is 9.99 + taxes... the 9.99 comes strictly alone from the price of the actual item. I am also speaking about mach 3 turbo cartridges. The mach 3 regular's are like 8.99... big difference, eh?

It's really nothing to be afraid of. I thought the same thing when I got it. I haven't nicked myself once on that razor. Then again, I haven't nicked myself on any razor for a long time.

The 5 bladed razor you speak of is the big brother to the mach 3, called the fusion. It's gillette's comeback to schick's quattro.

Quite frankly, I didn't notice a difference in the shave from my 3 bladed BIC disposable to the mach 3. It got just as close, which shocked me for a disposable BIC. Granted I'm not a fan of those cheap ones where they're about 4 cents each, but a pivoting head 3 bladed lubed disposable razor @ 4 for 3.50 isn't a bad deal.
