Self help books for trust issues?

I'm ruining things by not trusting people. I've been in some horrible relationships where I trusted too much, and now I trust no one. I don't know if I should've asked this here, I just couldn't think of anywhere else.

Anyone know of any good self help books on this topic? I need something I can read or listen to while at work because I have next to no personal time.

Or at least any advice? I know plenty of people are having much bigger problems, this just seemed like the only place to ask.

There is a big difference b/t TRUST (which comes from you) and someone who is trustWORTHY. You seem to think you have a problem w/the former, which is usually about deeper issues to do with ego, and dealing with strong emotions, like pain.

I will suggest you try this site:

There are *many* free mp3 downloadable talks you can listen to on these, and many other subjects. The perspective is a buddhist one, but don't let that frighten you away. Ajahn Brahm is a very good speaker (I've met him) and his talks are for a much wider audience than those who label themselves 'buddhist'.

I would suggest Fear for Freedom, by Erich Fromm. However, in general, I distrust self-help books.

i say you should trust people you find trustworthy, but if someone stabs you in the back, dont let it hit you hard because that's when the other person has "won" in a sense. if you can come out of a backstabbing by saying you're better off and thinking the other person is foolish to do something like that, then you've won.

stop looking at things like you have the short-end of the stick, and apply it to the people who try to do things to you.

In a sense, you need to be protective of yourself in trust issues but you should open up to trustworthy people. Don't let people that hurt you in the past have an affect on people in your future. It's disasterous as I know from my experience.

What if you learn how to read people's personality through their body language or leadership techniques? There is plenty information about that online. Some has to be good.
