thanks for the tips. i'll read it again before i go next time.

dm, that's a cool igloo. that's a hell of a lot of snow.
TBH, skiing doesn't really do anything for you if you're picking up snowboarding. I wake board, so it was sort of an easy transition, but I took some HARD falls doing it. Snowboarded for one season and got to the point of being able to do any run I wanted, but I went back to skiing the next season. Speed is everything for me and a snowboard just can't match my ski's

In all honesty, like Cbrider said, skiing doesn't really help. They're totally different to me. It was like trying to learn again.

True, I definitely don't go as fast as I do on skis, but riding is so much more fun to me.

i'd like to one day go winter camping, tuck myself away in the mountain, take some skis and spend the days cross country skiing.

i think if you're a skier and you go to snowboarding it should be a little bit easier because you're used to being on a snowy hill and you're more aware of the dynamics, i think.

I hope you have fun misombra, but I just got back from a ski trip in Mammoth, and I have officially decided that I will NEVER live where it snows. EVER. I can't believe people live like that. I love Southern California.

How was the skiing, Vash? Did you get the snow that's been killing the rest of the West Coast?

Yup. We were actually "snowed in" yesterday. We had about 4 feet fall in 36 hours. Even before that storm, it was too cold (thanks to wind chill) for me to actually enjoy it for longer than 10 minutes. it was gorgeous today, though. Too little, too late. And shoveling snow sucks.

I am so glad I'm not in Vancouver right now. Christmas day was 30oC here. Highly recommended, Vash, for next year. Get drugs for the gals w/the plane phobia, lol.

where do you live misombra? and also, i'd recommend you buy new gear after spring break. they are slashing price at that time to get rid of their inventory. i got a full new set of stuff last year for about $200. including jacket, pants, gloves, and hat. regular price was about $400 plus tax. just a recommendation for ya

Here's a picture of my car in Mammoth. i know this may not seem like a big deal to those of you in cold-weather states, but for a Southern Californian, it's a deal-breaker.
