Harley's are for idiotic consumers, no offense.

I'm not buying a brand name with a shitty bike.

And I do agree with Dopple. The Ninja is kind of a pussy bike. Buuuut the Ninja can actually hold its own on the interstate whereas the Rebel will be chugging in the slow lane as cars zoom by. That's probably my biggest point of concern, actually.

Cheap is the name of the game. I'm almost certain to drop my bike at some point while I learn so why pay a premium for a beautiful bike that's going to be dented and scratched all to hell? Also, it's entirely possible that I'll buy one and leave it collecting dust on the side of the road.

I want an inexpensive bike to ride for a year. Once I'm comfortable and I'm sure it's worth it then I'll consider an expensive motorcycle.

Nice thing is bikes tend to retain their value. If I buy one of those bikes today I can sell it a year from now for a couple hundred less than what I paid, assuming I don't tear it up between now and then, which I probably will.

Please, please please make sure you deck yourself out in all the kit. One of those full helmets, etc. I will be a broken woman if you go out and smash up that beautiful brain of yours.

I vote for no motorcycle at all, but if I HAD to choose, I'd pick the first one. The second one looks like a kid's bike.

I say spend the money now and get something you really want, if you crash...you should have insurance. Also I'm not a fan of the whole crotch rocket thing. It's almost like the cheap route to getting a riced out vehicle. A large majority (not all) that tend to ride crotch rockets are usually the immature college guy.

Personally I would never purchase myself a bike, because I am a speed freak. I'm one of those people that you'll probably see on local news that outruns a helicopter and has CHP trying to follow.

This is the exact bike I ride, an 07 Kawi zx6r.

As much as I love my street bikes, I would have to suggest you go with the rebel or a ninja 250. The Rebel is far more practical for cruising around. My Ninja is pretty curled over, its designed to have you tucked up against the tank, its a pure race bike. Thats what street bikes are built for, unless you like that style of riding, go to a track or like doing stunts, theres no reason to go the way of a street bike.

A ninja 250 is a perfect starter bike, its got enough power to operate on any road, but not enough to hurt yourself. I have seen some nasty accidents on 600 and 1000cc bikes because it was more power than the rider could control.

You can pick up a 250 ninja or rebel cheap, hell they are only like $3500-$4000 off the showroom floor.

On top fo all that, insurance is nuts on 600 and 1000cc bikes. I'm a single male under the age of 25, they LOVE me.
