    Quite Puzzled

Okay ladies, I'll try to keep this short.

I just got back from a 2000-mile road trip. I do these a lot, probably averaging 10K miles a year, and I thought I'd seen just about everything. But this trip took a turn for the weird.

I pulled in for lunch one day in some little town in Georgia that was probably named Elk Snout (bonus points to anyone who gets the reference). As usual on solo road trips, I'm sitting up at the bar with a book having a nice, relaxing lunch. Now, I don't fully understand why, but I do recognize that a guy reading in public is like catnip to some ladies (been doing it since I was old enough to sit on a bar stool without falling off). So when I sense someone walking up behind me, I figure it is just another lady coming to ask me what I'm reading (already happened three times that trip).

Imagine my surprise when I turn around and see *three* women, a group that had come in ten minutes earlier and sat at a table across the room. Sure enough, they ask about the book and joined me at the bar. Now, I've never had three women all vying for my attention before, and had no clue how to react. There was plenty of good flirting going on with all three, including a fair amount of physical flirting. This goes on for about two hours, longer than I'd planned to spend there.

Eventually, I pay for my food, say a quick goodbye and head off to use the bathroom. I come back out and one of the three hands me my book, with a scrap of paper stuffed inside with her number (something I never asked for). As I'm walking out to my car, another one of the group (who I'd let sample my dessert) runs up to me in the parking lot, gives me one hell of a kiss, slips her number into my pocket and runs back inside.

I spent the remaining 700 miles of the trip wondering what the hell just happened. By the time I got home, I had more questions than answers. Maybe y'all can help clear this up for me:

    (1) Why give your number to someone who lives so far away? Hell, I couldn't find that town again if I tried (I could swear my GPS said "where the f*** are we?" when I turned it on in the parking lot).

    (2) I know women travel in groups, but approaching a guy as a group? And then competing against each other for his attention? Is this some weird game I've not encountered before?

    (3) What's with the book obsession? I was talking about this with a friend of mine, and she pointed me to a blog that is nothing but pictures of guys reading in public. Is it really *that* much of a turn-on?

I'm writing it off as a success, but I'm curious to know what exactly was going on in the event I run into this again somewhere down the line.

Maybe they have a bet with each other and to see which one of them you call first.

I'm also thinking maybe they were just all together on a social outing but they didn't know each other too well and are not really close friends. I say that and because women who are close friends share info as to who they find hot, etc, and if you had caught the eye of one of them and she'd mentioned it to the others, the others may not have come onto you. I never used to go after a guy if my friend mentioned that she liked him anyway. If she saw him first, then I'd steer clear....just the way I am.

Rain.man, when I read your post, I had to laugh.. it's sounds like a fun time! My first thought was that the women were just out to play around and have fun. They may not have thought you would call any of them since you didn't live around that area, but I think that's what makes it so exciting.. Especially for the one that came up and kissed you in the parking lot.. it's something fun to do when you feel a little frisky! And there's no commitment required

    I say enjoy it!

    I certainly enjoyed it

Honestly, it is one of the things I really enjoy about road tripping. There's always plenty of no-strings-attached flirting to be had, and the distance relaxes you and lets you try things you wouldn't normally do at home. I have no intention of calling any of them (I always toss numbers in the trash the next time I stop for gas). I was just shocked to have been approached like that, I've never had an entire group of ladies flirting with me before.

What makes you think they were competing? Maybe they wanted to share.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

LOL, let's chalk it up to a little road trip fun and a good story to tell your friends! I hadn't heard of a story quite like that before, but seriously, who wouldn't have wanted to be you?!
