I'm in the same situation right now, although, with my guy, I can't say it because I'm afraid its too early in our relationship to say it. I don't want to scare him away. How long have you been with your g/f for?

You have to try before someone else gets in the way or its too late. Don't make too big of a show of it. Make sure its not too soon. That's my advice.

If it's not a girlfriend, you'll just frighten the girl. And everyone is different. I've never told a person "I love them" because I wanna be sure that it's the right person and wanna be sure that (A) they love me back and (B) we're gonna be together for a really long time. That includes my current girlfriend of 11 months.

Try sorta "leading" into it. One week tell her you "have very strong feelings about her". It'll plant a little 'seed' in her brain as to, "Wow. Could he love me?". When you feel like you can't wait any longer again try something like "I'm falling for you". This way you get the message across gently and you can gauge her reactions and feel out how she feels about you without totally committing to the L word and falling even harder (if you end up falling that is).
