When a girl only talks to you when she needs something, or when she thinks you're "drifting" away from her and she wants to reel you back in to keep your interest, what exactly do you call that type of behavior / "relationship"?

I don't know if that behaviour/relationship has a name - I'm not into that type of analysis.
But I can safely say that for whatever reason, you're not high on her list of priorities. And that you need to make a decision regarding what's best for you based on this fact.

Never regret anything that has happened in your life. It cannot be changed, forgotten or undone. So, take it as a lesson learned and move on.
It's called an emotional parasite. I've been in that situation before, and the best way to deal with it is to cut it loose.
She is an attention whore, keep your distance.
Are you guys dating? Or is this just some female friend that you wish you were dating?
If the latter, if you haven't made your move yet she probably has just moved on and comes to you the odd occasion just because she wants the attention.
They are not dating. He is referring to his lab partner in class who has a boyfriend.
The problem there is no way of knowing because she ain't shelling out.
I don't know what to label it. Maybe she's a user. Maybe she just like attention. Either way it's not healthy for you. Do your lab work with her & don't think about the rest of it.
OP.....you still chasing that girl?
Some people never learn.
