I think like you said you are not used to being the center of your man's attention. Hence not comfortable with this. It's very normal for me to miss and want to be with my girl all the time at the initial stage of a relationship esp when I can't see her everyday. This doesn't last long as I trust her. Maybe a week or two. Then I think it's going good. I feel secured and now it's her turn to want to be with me at all time. lol then our friends think it's her who's after me!
Maybe he's just a little insecure because he's afraid to lose you. We men don't tell you when we feel insecure. Not a very manly thing you know. I'd say reassure him of your love for him. That should do the trick. If he still continues to feel insecure and jealous of your friends that's not a good sign. Maybe then you need to talk to him about it. Hope all goes well. Good luck.

There is a concern. If he neglects his own responsibilities while he is obsessed over you, that is destructive behavior. If he misses work or neglects family because he's obsessed with you, that's bad pattern.
In time, he should be less clingy. But just make sure he is strong enough to be a man, and not be some emotionally dependent burden. IMHO.
