No. I just don't understand this hyper-sensitivity, this defensiveness of some women. This thing of attempting to be hardcore and "my man don't f-ck with me," all that shit. "self-respect" etc etc etc.

It just seems like a lot of hot air, And I don't really buy it. Because the women on here that I know don't take shit (real shit): like indi, or vashti don't feel the need to carry on with all that stuff. And are able to put instances like this perfectly harmless bit of banter in perspective.

No I said the defensiveness of some women. As in they're the ones that are defensive.

It's the same when girls say things like "I'm a strong, independant woman" like they want a medal because they're not a housewife. I think all that crap actually demeans women because they're in fact insinuating I'm not like the rest of them, those weaklings.

I think I feel this way because the women in my family: my grandma, my mother and my sister never carry on with stuff like that, they just live it. They just don't take crap, they just are financially independent with successful careers. My mother in particular is unbelievably successful. So because of the example they've set I don't expect other women should be any different.

Probably more like "smart" men know better than to joke about it if he knows the particular woman is sensitive about it. And I'd be willing to guess that most women actually are given the sheer amount of weight loss marketing, tips, etc that get thrown at a woman daily.

Sure, you can laugh it off for a while, but it's like being a man and being spammed with increase your penis size junkmail. Eventually you start to wonder if someone is starting to tell you something. Regardless of how endowed, or not, you may be.

Maybe the girl is on the heavy side. I am on the heavy side and if I was called a pig I'd definitely take it to heart. If she is slim on the other hand, THEN I'd say she is overreacting. But seeing as we do not know if she is on the bigger side, this arguement is dumb. Are you guys saying it should be fine even if she is fat? Cuz if so, you guys are just mean.

Jokes and teasing are welcome to me personally, but sometimes one can hit a nerve, which it sounds like the OP did with his girlfriend. You guys can complain that some women can't take a joke, but it's human to have a chink in one's armor. It happens to the best of us.

That being said, it's immature of her to hold it against him forever. At some point she just needs to forgive and forget.

I wonder what the responses would have been if the OP had posted

'My GF called me mouse' without the pig retaliation.

Tho, honestly, I can't imagine a guy doing much except sucking it up.

So, in this case, he DID tease her back & he's catching shit for it? This seems awfully unfair somehow.

He was teasing her, for goodness sake. And she deserved to be teased b/c of her FIRST comment to him. If she can't take it, perhaps she shouldn't dish it out in the first place.

Its a good lesson for both of them. If these were my kids, I'd tell them to stop being stupid & play nice w/each other from now on.
