    You don't have a backup of this kind of info on a server? Do you mind if I ask your company to lend us some cash.... ?

    You didn't say why your comp died. Is it the actual HD? You could just move it to another comp and see if you can access it. Anyway, I've had an internal drive moved to an ext one, its no big deal. It didn't cost $2000 either.
    Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.

    i blame myself for it greatly, i have my own drive on a server and it never crossed my mind to save it there. the HD wasn't accessible at all, we tried everything before coughing up and giving it to others.

    Does *everything* include putting it in a freezer for a day? Very often something as simple as that makers a dead hd work (for a litle while, until it has to be re-frozen). Not kidding.
