Goin' To Washington D.C. for a Rally!

My service learning director from my old highschool invited me to come to a rally in support of reinstating full funding to Learn and Serve America. To summarize:

Learn and Serve America supports and encourages service-learning throughout the United States, and enables over one million students to make meaningful contributions to their community while building their academic and civic skills. By engaging our nation’s young people in service-learning, Learn and Serve America instills an ethic of lifelong community service.

They almost completely cut funding to AmeriCorps*NCCC for next year, but fortunately with a lot of support and advocation from alumni and sponsors we had full funding reinstated. Unfortunately the case doesn't seem so for Learn and Serve. Both programs are umbrellaed under Corporation for National and Community Service.

Any of you guys ever go to any kind of protest or rally?

This'll be my first, I'll tell you how it goes tomorrow evening.

Actually Tavs, it was to the Senate, and there were quite a few Senators there. It's to support Learn and Serve. It actually went very well, and they care...least more than you do.

We weren't outside picketing or nothing, it was a formal presentation.
