    Water Does Not Conduct Electricity...

    ...in it's purest form.

I learned this today, thought it was cool.

But until our water supply is that pure people will die of electrocution when watching soap operas in the bathtub.

That's why distilled water is usually used in irons. Also because non-distilled water normally contains some minerals and when the water evaporates from the iron it leaves behind the minerals on the iron and can clog it.

But, as soon as you touch the water it becomes impure and will conducts electricity. Because you are full of oils, electrolytes, and salts on your skin.

Also you normally don't want to drink distilled water because it doesn't have any minerals that your body needs.

Have you ever drunk pure water? It tastes really strange.

PS - Ask your teacher what happens if the water freezes, Fras. Will it conduct or not?

Not much. Not at all if it's cold enough.

Gribble, one of these days you are going to PM me & tell me what you do. My instincts say science or engineering.

Pump anything with enough volts and it'll conduct electricity.

Even the air, which is traditionally considered an insulator.

Have you ever been to school?

    That-s 5'th grade material.

And yes, its quite logical actually that you could conduct electricity through any matter. Because it is nothing more than a particle flow. It only needs a push. Tesla coils are fun things also.

And do not drink pure water. Its not good for you, at all.

Only in Estonia. And that's only b/c in 6th grade its all PE training so you have a chance of running out of the way when those tanks are passing through.

In 5'th grade they study lots of things. But I was concerning the subject of chemistry and physics a post back. But yes, Frasbee, Nazis conduct electricity too!

I use distilled water all the time and I drink it.

I am not aware of any matter, or any succesful experiment that managed to achieve the results of an absolute zero temperature.

In any case, there is nothing on this Earth that I will ever encounter that will be that temperature (or lack of temperature).

    As a result:

Pump anything with enough volts and it will conduct electricity.
